The school was established over fifteen years ago and is dedicated to the Montessori philosophy for 2 year olds to Kindergartners providing daycare and preschool facilities.

We provide an educational environment that fosters an enthusiasm for learning and encourages children to reach their fullest potential. We strive to provide the highest quality Montessori education available; emphasizing basic academic disciplines and promoting the development of independence, self- respect, and respect for others.
Affiliation
Evergreen Montessori School is affiliated with AMS (American Montessori Society). The American Montessori Society is an organization dedicated to encouraging and supporting the use of the Montessori teaching approach in schools both public and private. AMS is the mainstay of the Montessori movement in the United States committed to advancing principles and practices that encourage better outcomes for children.
Philosophy
We believe in the process of life long learning as an exciting journey. Each child possesses an innate sense of order, which develops as the child explores and defines the world. The child absorbs the world and learns by doing. Each child experiences sensitive periods of intense fascination with particular concepts and skills. We acknowledge these critical learning periods in early childhood, and their impact on the development of social, emotional, intellectual, physical, and moral competencies. Our focus is to provide academics that enhance critical thinking, life long discovery, inner discipline, positive social interactions, concentration, and task completion.
Goals
Our goals are to provide students with a firm grounding in basic physical, social, emotional and academic growth. We achieve these through the following techniques:
- Sense of order through logically prepared classrooms

- Healthy relationships based on conflict resolution principles
- Independence through hands-on self correcting materials

Curriculum
Evergreen Montessori curriculum is a multidisciplinary thematic approach which offers the child opportunities to explore the dynamic interactions that exist among the physical universe, the world of nature and the human experience. Maria Montessori defined the educational goal as “the development of a complete human being, oriented to the environment, and adapted to his or her time, place, and culture.”
To achieve this goal we have created a flexible, resource-rich learning environment that encourages concentration, careful planning, and hands on learning. In our classrooms, large common spaces for group lessons and projects are surrounded by smaller spaces for individual work. The flexibility of their physical environment puts children in charge of their own learning experiences and encourages them to solve problems creatively.
At Evergreen Montessori, we strive to awaken a curiosity for knowledge and develop a passion for learning. We instill the value of thoughtful and meaningful work that is necessary for the good of self and community. We respect the individual learning style and unique potential each child brings to our school.
The location of our two campuses in San Jose, the peace of our environment, the integrity and calm of our staff and the individual attention given to each child is what makes Evergreen Montessori School special. We celebrate awareness of culture, art and music. Our yearly school calendar provides more detail regarding the country of the month, artist and the composer. We have three year cycles of celebrating cultures: year one is the continents of Europe, Australia and Antarctica, year two is Asia and Africa and year three is North and South America. Our focus during the continental studies is to understand food, culture and clothing, music and art from different countries.
Staff
All our teachers are AMS (American Montessori Society) certified / have teacher training credentials. At all times, a CPR certified staff member is present.
